Stellar Consensus Protocol (SCP)

The consensus algorithm used by the Stellar network. It provides a way to reach consensus without relying on a closed system to accurately record financial transactions.

SCP lets each node choose which other nodes it trusts, forming overlapping "quorum slices" that reach agreement in seconds without mining. It was the first provably safe construction of federated Byzantine agreement.
