Oracle

A service that feeds real-world or off-chain data, such as asset prices, to smart contracts so they can execute based on external events.

Blockchains cannot see the outside world, so oracles deliver prices, weather, or event outcomes on-chain. Manipulated oracle data is a classic DeFi attack vector, so robust feeds and multiple sources matter.
